Italy is a true paradise to vehicle enthusiasts. Toll motorways are more expensive than in other European countries but they are of excellent quality, contain less heavy traffic and you can reach every part of the country within a day. And if you have time, you can avoid big highways and move slowly while admiring gorgeous small towns.
Tractor unit drivers don’t like this country so much. When you exit the highway, you can easily get stuck in traffic congestion or narrow streets of a small town. Therefore, only professional drivers collect partial cargoes from Italy. They are familiar with the area and have a lot of experience.
The northern and southern parts of the country are also very different. The northern part has a well-developed infrastructure and a road network. The southern part is the opposite – it might be difficult to find some of the locations even with multiple navigators. Not surprisingly, gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in northern and southern parts differs almost twice.
